You’ve seen the TV programme, now read the interview. Stylist and TV presenter Gok Wan talks about his love of fashion and what’s hot this season.

Q. What is your greatest fashion indulgence?
A. ‘My collection of vintage trainers and my rolex.’

Q. What do you probably wear too often?
A. ‘My beanie, I’m always running late for work and seem to never have the time to blow dry the barnet. Solution: beanie!!’

Q. If you have five minutes to get dressed, what do you choose?
A. ‘I’d throw on skinny black jeans, black t-shirt, black Lindeberg and winkle pickers.’

Q. What are the big colours this season?
A. ‘Purple and yellow. I’m loving an Autumn/Winter full of colour. Metallics are also happening, which is great for Christmas.’

Q. What is your favourite pastime?
A. ‘Chilling out with my mates eating noodles, drinking lager too and laughing.’

Q. What is your life’s motto?
A. ‘It’s not what you know, it’s what you know when you know it!’

Q. What fashion piece would you most like to have designed?
A. ‘Glasses.’

Q. Favourite TV show?
A. ‘Sex and The City.’

Q. Design your own perfect shopping day.
A. ‘Sambucca and an open credit card.’

Q. Best shopping experience?
A. ‘They’re all great! I love to shop and I really feel my hard work and dedication has made me King of the Tills!’

Q. What do you like best about being on Television?
A. ‘When my nieces shout at the TV like I’m in the room.’

Q. What’s the biggest mistake people make about you?
A. ‘They think I’m straight!’

Q. What do you like most about your work on How to Look Good Naked?
A. ‘I like the fact I have the opportunity to use my job and hobby to make women feel good about themselves without resorting to surgery or drastic dieting!’

Q. What do you love about fashion?
A. ‘It’s power to transform both your appearance and your mood.’

Q. Have you ever had a terrible fashion moment?
A. ‘I dressed entirely in beige one day and was walking around looking like Stefanie Powers from Hart to Hart.’

Q. Who are your favourite fashion designers?
A. ‘I love J Lindeberg, Jil Sander and Alexander McQueen.’

Q. Is there a fashion item you just can’t live without?
A. ‘My skater chain.’

Q. Tell us what the three key looks are for this season
A. ‘Ankle boots are hot. Low on the foot with bright tights. The Blazer is big as we’re moving to sharper looks. Then it’s statement embellishment. Girl, is it effective! A chunky studded coat, jewel-encrusted top or a sequinned disco jacket. A big piece worn near your best assets will draw attention.’

Q. And what about the boys?
A. ‘Cardigans are still big news. All boys should have a well-cut blazer or suit, and baggy pants are back but worn smart, not hip-hop style. Pair with pea coats and good quality knitwear.’

Q. Do you have a favourite grooming product?
A. ‘It has to be Dr Hauschka lip balm.’
