With demonstrations from top chefs including Masterchef finalist , Andy Oliver,  Masterchef winner Dhruv Baker, Mitchelin starred chef Atul Kochar and headline demonstration from renowned chef Jason Atherton to teach you new tricks and how to create the flavours of culinary cuisine.

Today we will be holding an exhibition on Bullring’s Middle West Mall (next to the customer service desk) to share with you our plans for 2011, which we hope will see the creation of three new restaurant areas in the St Martin’s Square area. It is hoped that the Spiceal Street development will create a new vibrant daytime to evening restaurant scene right at the heart of the city.

The new scheme draws on the areas’ history. During the 1700s the original Spiceal Street, in the same location as the proposed development, was known for its hospitality, grocery and meat trade.

You can head to the exhibition on Friday (10am – 6pm) to meet with representatives from Hammerson and find out exactly what the plans are for the development prior to  the submission of a planning application during the early autumn. You’ll also be able to pledge your support and give us your feedback.

Or you can head to the brand new Spiceal Street website, where you’ll be able to view images of the proposed development, hear what our General Manager, Tim Walley, thinks about the development and pledge your support.

From live mannequins, tasty treats in the Food Hall, customised designer goods and music from some of the city’s top DJs, Selfridges gives 101 reasons why it must be on every fashionista’s to-do list during the weekend of 24th – 26th September.

The iconic department store, which was named the world’s best during 2010, will be playing host to a variety of indulgent, must-see fashion and beauty events across all four floors.

Visit the Food Hall on Level One to take advantage of delicious drink samples from Starbucks, whilst everybody’s favourite doughnut company, Krispy Kreme will be spontaneously giving away boxes of their famous doughnuts to unsuspecting yet extremely lucky customers!

Head to the Street (Level Two) to experience live retail theatre as on the hour, every hour, live mannequins will become a fashion parade around the shop floor showcasing some of the very latest collections housed within Selfridges. Meanwhile live DJs will take to the floor to create an atmosphere whilst Birmingham’s most stylish fashionista’s will be seeked out to become a part of Selfridges’ Style Wall.

Calling all boxing fans, the hottest cruiserweight-turned-heavyweight boxer David ‘The Hayemake’ Haye will be on Selfridges’ Menswear (Level 3) between 5pm – 6pm on Saturday 25th September signing copies of his magazine. Joining David on the menswear floor will be an array of luxury experiences, including cut throat shaves at Umberto Gianni’s pampering station (12pm – 5pm both days), personalisation on any Ralph Lauren t-shirts by expert customisation staff (12pm – 5pm both days) and spirit tasting of some of the department store’s indulgent spirits (12pm-5pm both days).

Over at Selfridges’ famous Beauty Hall, expect the ultimate in indulgence as many of Selfridges’ world class brands will be offering shoppers makeovers with some of the very best make-up artists, all shoppers receiving these makeovers will receive a complimentary glass of champagne.

Jo Malone, Estee Lauder, Armani, Fake Bake, Illamasqua and Juicy Couture will all be hosting divine in store events to shower shoppers with extravangant treats. Register to the Browse elite to ensure that you’re the first to know…

And just when you thought there couldn’t possibly be more, we head to Level 4. Finally, a must-do for all stylish Birmingham shoppers is the Shoe Stories wall, which will be located in the shoe department on Level 4. Customers will be invited to tell Selfridges their shoe stories and showcase them on the wall. And best of all, the best story will win a pair of shoes!

On 17th September at 4pm, head to the Juicy Couture department for your chance to win the new juicy fragrance. Continuing until 8pm a DJ will be entertaining shoppers whilst you can take advantage of the a selection of complementary fruit juices and sweets.

The Gallery will be the location for this intimate evening hosted by Selfridges’ Sommelier, Dawn Davies, accompanied by an exclusive menu designed by James Newton Brown.

For a ticket price of £60, guests will enjoy a luxury four course meal, throughout which they will be advised on beautiful champagnes by experts from Moet.

Birmingham is the hottest place to be in terms of style this September.   A three day event of fashion taking over the city, Style Birmingham Live will be host to a wealth of fashion shows, beauty presentations and fabulous promotions.

You may have heard about the magical performance of fashion that is The Show but you won’t want to miss your chance to witness all events taking place as part of Style Birmingham Live throughout the city.

Bullring will be hosting a fantastic line up of stylish events, so you can get your fashion fix right here at the centre.

The Town Hall will be playing host to the  fashion show (hosted by the gorgeous George Lamb!) to present to you style and fashion from across the city, and presenting fashion from Bullring’s best retailers.  This show will incorporate the new seasons’ stunning trends, ranging from the Aviator trend to Power Woman.  Retailers from across the city, including Bullring’s very best will be providing the clothing and showcasing collections; some of which include Reiss, French Connection, COS, Debenhams and Dune.

Selfridges will be putting on a fabulous line up to keep you entertained. Two leading American shops are heading our way.  Forever21 have selected Bullring to open their first shop in the UK bringing you the latest trends straight from LA.  As for the other US shop, if we  say California that’s a pretty big clue,  and that’s all we’ll say for now, we’ll bring you more news very soon.  We’re also eagerly awaiting the opening of Thomas Sabo’s new haven of gems and jewels for you to explore and Selfridges have welcomed Folli Follie to their accessories range.

To top it all off to ensure you’re fully fuelled as you enjoy the shops we’re proud to annouce that Jamie’s Italian are opening their final restaurant for 2010 at Bullring.

Forever 21 is already a huge success in the US,  attracting thousands of excited fans to its recent opening in New York, and we hope it attracts the same buzz right here in Birmingham when it opens on the Upper and Middle West mall .  It has been said it’s a cross between Topshop and H&M  – what a perfect combination!  Forever 21 is known for offering the hottest and most current fashion trends at a great value.

Thomas Sabo, originally in Selfridges, has proved itself to be so popular, that they have moved into their very own store.  To be located on the Lower East Mall, the store will hold beautiful pieces from various collections, ranging from classic pieces to sterling silver chunky jewellery.

Jamie’s Italian owned by leading Chef,  Jamie Oliver, will bring an exciting selection of rustic dishes, using recipes that have been tried, tested and loved right into the heart of Birmingham.  Offering a relaxing dining experience inspired by italian dining culture of enjoying great food whilst sharing great company.   We absolutely can’t wait to welcome Jamie’s Italian to Bullring next to Wagamamas.  What a welcome addition – our tastebuds are tingling already.

We have also recently acquired a Folli Follie concession in Selfridges, supplying trend-led shoppers with statement beautiful jewellery and watches.

So there you have it, a few snippets from the latest retailers we have attracted to this fabulous city.  You will only have to wait a few months for the openings, and then you can let loose on these shops and enjoy something a little different.
