Swing into the Seventies

No less than 35 years ago, people were fixing their floppy hats upon their heads, lacing up their platform shoes and slipping on those John Lennon-esque shades.  Well, the time has come to do it all again.

Don’t panic ladies, for you won’t need to invest in an afro wig, or sequins; slight flared jeans, jeweled tones and gorgeous floppy hats will suffice.  Ensuring this is a trend for those who were lucky enough to wear it the first time to do it all again with a modern and sophisticated twist.

Reiss have adopted this trend with a passion with their summer collections looking to the 70s for inspiration to give a range that shows a modern take on icons of the era.  With high-waisted A-line skirts and 70s kick flares – which we adore as you can sneak a pair of  wedges underneath for a long lean silhouette.  Think plunging necks on long line cardigans and extreme colour blocking for a bright bold but always elegant trend.   And the great news is this trend is set to stay with AW11 taking a nod to the 70s too.

Here are our favourite picks from this by-gone era to the right…

As someone with a big head, I need a big hat,so long live the 70s trend!

Love the flares too, great to have an option that's not skinny jeans for curvy girls like me. Ladies not blessed with long legs should be careful with wide leg styles though, a kick flare can be more flattering.
