Music from The Show: Redefinition
Every fashion show requires the perfect music, and The Show: Redefinition is no different. If you’ve were lucky enough to see it you’ll have heard 9 songs across 8 show stopping scenes and as we often get lots of questions regarding the music we’ve decided to bring you the definitive guide to what audiences heard at the show!
The opening scene at The Show: Redefinition is Dark Romance. This trend is all about Gothic influences, with black lace, PVC, and leather featuring heavily. The track by Basement Jaxx that we chose to accompany this trend suits it perfectly with a sexy beat and a Gothic reference in its name…Dracula.
Moving on from the opening scene we hit a new point of reference, the swinging 60s! Mod Squad was a wonderful opportunity to indulge ourselves in some cult classics (along with the dropped waists, pea coats and asymmetric prints on the catwalk) and the music we chose did not disappoint. Expect to sway along to ‘Bus Stop’ by The Hollies and rock out to ‘My Generation’ by The Who!
‘Clavedistos’ by Acapulco sends Heritage’s paisley prints and corduroys bobbing along down the catwalk with it’s punchy beat, and Fischer Spooner’s ‘Emerge’ signals the arrival of Spot-It, a fabulous array of spots and dots reflected in the slick, bouncy pace of the track.
Forties Flair glides sumptuously down the runway to vocals as velvety as the fabrics being showcased from Kathrin deBoer of Belleruche with the track ‘Northern Girls’. This song is the musical equivalent of the trend it represents and conjures up images of 40′s movie stars and flash bulbs.
Next up is Man’s World, monochrome and androgyny are supported with a song incorporating the contrast of a strong, monotonous beat against delicate female vocals. Much like the strong contrast of mannish tailoring played against the softness of the female form, ‘Wir Werden Sehen’ by 2Raumwohung gives a real feel for this bold fashion trend.
Decadence is a sparkling trend of jewel tones and big stones, refelcted in the liquid melody of ‘If Alone’ by Slideshow feat. Paul St. Hilaire. Closing the show with the ultimate winter look, Feathers and Furs is the beautiful ‘Palladio’ by Escala. This piece of music is as dramatic as the extravagant garments that go down the catwalk to it’s beat. The perfect end to a spectacular show!
